Waste water treatment plant for small remote settlement has distributor shaft to low-cost modular reed basins reducing capital and operating costs

A small remote settlement of up to 50 persons has a reed bed waste water treatment plant consisting of a series of basins (2), with a plant stage (4) and an outlet (9) for treated water. A distributor shaft (3) is positioned upstream of the plant stage (4). The plant stage (4) consists of a series of pre-fabricated rectangular plastic or concrete modular basins (41, 42, 43, 44),connected in parallel, receiving their water supply in equal quantities from the distributor shaft (3). Each basin is 1-1.8 m deep, has a surface area of 3-7.5 m2 and is capable of treating water effluent from a household of average 2.5 persons.
