The light intensity control device uses optical and optoelectronic elements for controlling the light intensity received from an image or a light source, by converting the input light quantity into an output light quantity via individual control of each element using corresponding output signals provided by a photo-array (4) and an image processor. The light control elements are provided by segments of a pair of liquid crystal display plates (1,2) which are switched between transparent and opaque states.
