New 1,15-pentadecenolide and 1,15-pentadecynolide compounds useful as fragrances and intermediates

1,15-Pentadecenolides (I) and 1,15-pentadecynolides (II) are new. Lactones of formula (I) and (II), except for cis-1,15-pentadec-5-enolide (IA), are new: x = 1-7; y = 5-11; x+y = 12; A = CHR; R = H, Me or Et. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) 1,15-pentadec-5-enolide cis/trans isomer mixtures with a cis content of more than 40%; (2) use of (IA) as a fragrance for production of perfumes.
