The aim of the invention is to create a novel information medium with high effectiveness for society at large. To this end, a satellite which is located in the geostationary earth orbit e.g. is provided with a high-performing laser projection system. Said satellite emits relevant rays of light in the direction of the earth atmosphere, whereby the natural dispersion effect of the earth atmosphere can be used in order to produce an impression of an image in the night sky for an observer being on the earth. The control and image data transfer is carried out by corresponding technical devices. The system can be used in advertising. A political and military use is also possible. Combinations and multiple systems of the inventive device for image production can be used alone or in functional combination with other media such as the internet, radio and mobile telephone networks.
