The light element has a light conductor (2) with two mutually parallel flat sides (2a,2b), of which one has a scattering light surface for scattering the light incident on this surface area on that flat side (2b). The light scattering surface is broken up by a number of totally reflective zones (8). An Independent claim is also included for a use of the light element as an information bearer
