A threaded pipe connection comprises a pin member (10) having external threads, a box member (12) having Internal threads so that complementary internal and external threads move into engagement upon make-up of the connection, and a wear indicator (18) for the connection. The external threads of the pin member increase in width in one direction, and the internal threads of the box member increase in width in the other direction. Contact between the wear indicator and a corresponding shoulder member of the other part of the connection may occur prior to the connection becoming fully worn out, and give a visual indication of this. An Independent claim is included for a method of indicating connection wear. Preferred Features: The wear indicator may be located on an Internal shoulder or an external shoulder of either the pin member or the box member. Alternatively the wear indicator may be located on internal shoulders of both the pin member and the box member or on external shoulders of both components. Furthermore, multiple wear indicators may be added to the pin member, box member, or both.
