The bandgap starting method provides a current to the start-up circuit (300), with a peak current of less than 7 micro Amps. A voltage is then provided for the bandgap circuit (302), which is coupled to the start-up circuit. The system then determines whether the bandgap circuit has reached a predetermined voltage value. Once it has done this, the current in the start-up circuit is dropped to zero. An Independent claim is included for a system starting a bandgap circuit.
