Determining channel information in small zone system, using time division multiplex access (TDMA) transmission protocol in traffic channel allocated to connection

User's information is transmitted during connection between mobile and base stations of the respective small zone. The base station characteristic codes (BSTC) of adjacent small zones are received and stored. The reception of the base station characteristic codes of adjacent small zones is prevented during the user's traffic connection. Preferably the BSTC of adjacent small zones is received and stored in mobile station prior to set-up of user's traffic connection. On the latter disconnection, the mobile station receives the BSTCs and carries out actualizing of memory w.r.t.. changes. Independent claims are included for the mobile station employing the determining method.
