The determining cylinder comprises electronic control unit (12) receiving multiple signals from the engine via input/output port (17). Signals included are cylinder identification signal (20) from a CID sensor (22) throttle position sensor (26) from throttle plate (27). The control logic determines the future position of the throttle plate, based on the sensed current position. An independent claim is also included for a method of determining future cylinder air charge of an internal combustion engine.
