Filling of a hazardous waste-containing drum comprises pressure reduction of the drum (10) and a confinement bell (28) during drum perforation and injection. Filling a hazardous waste-containing drum comprises fitting the drum (10) with an intermediate lid (16) having an opening sealed by a cover, perforating the cover with a toothed ring (38) carried by a confinement bell (28) above the drum end and injecting a filling material (14) into the drum through an injection tube (42) positioned within the toothed ring, the pressure being reduced in the drum and the bell during perforation and injection. An Independent claim is also included for the apparatus for the above process.
