Use of arsenic trioxide for the treatment of mammalian neoplastic disorders, especially chronic myeloid leukemia, adult T leukemia and lymphoid B proliferation

The use of arsenic trioxide in medicines for the treatment of mammalian neoplastic disorders. The specific disorders for which this treatment is effective are chronic myeloid leukemia, adult T leukemia due to HTLV-1 virus, and lymphoid proliferation. The As2O3 is preferably administered at a daily dosage of 0.1 - 0.2 mg/kg, especially 0.15 mg, as an injectable solution. For the treatment of T lymphoid leukemia due to HTLV-1, the As2O3 may be administered together with alpha -interferon in a separate form, simultaneously or staggered over a period. Independent claims are also included for injectable solutions for the treatment of the specific disorders listed, containing 0.1 - 2g/dl of As2O3, sodium cations, chloride anions, and having a pH in the range 5 - 7.
