A sheath has an orifice in its tip fitted with a cylindrical valve (5) containing a series of diaphragms. Preferred Features: The first diaphragm is in the form of a disc (7) with four apertures (8) round a neck (9) with a projecting tube (10). The second diaphragm consists of a disc (11) with a central aperture receiving one end of a hollow cone (12) with a lip (13) round the inner surface of its other end pressing against the neck (9). A third diaphragm is in the form of a disc (14) with a central tube (15) passing through it, and a fourth diaphragm has a disc (16) with four apertures (17) round the base of a tube (18). The valve allows sperm to pass out of the sheath on ejaculation while the three tubes (10, 15, 18) allow vaginal secretions to pass into the valve but not reach the inside of the sheath.
