The digital signal filtering method involves analysis filtering and transforming a digital signal which processes the signal by blocks, whilst limiting the degradation of the reconstructed signal. Other processing are applied to the signal between transformation and its reconstruction. The signal is processed by successive series of samples, and the calculations made on any series do not take into account the samples in a following series, and any series terminates in a low frequency sample. The method involves analysis filtering of an original digital signal which includes original samples representing physical quantities, and in which original samples of the signal are transformed by successive calculations into high and low frequency output samples. Any sample calculated at a given step is calculated by a predetermined function of original samples, and/or previously calculated samples. The samples are ordered in increasing rank. The signal is processed by successive series of samples, and the calculations made on any series do not take into account the samples in a following series. Any series terminates in a low frequency sample.
