PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a thin-wall sheetlike glass by which the mold releasability of the thin-wall sheetlike glass after molding from a forming mold is good and the warpage of the sheetlike glass is prevented when producing the thin-wall sheetlike glass by direct pressing and further the forming mold used therefor.;SOLUTION: When a molten glass is press molded to produce the thin-wall sheetlike glass, a mold having a top force and a bottom force respectively provided with a molding surface having 50 μm and ≤100 μm arithmetic average roughness Ra and a mold release material layer containing a heat-resistant mold release material powder and preformed in the molding surface is used as the forming mold. Furthermore, the forming mold is heated and temperature is increased. A molten glass gob is fed to the forming mold, pressurized and molded into a thin sheetlike glass. The resultant thin-wall sheetlike glass after the press molding and the forming mold are then cooled to take out the thin sheetlike glass from the forming mold. In a cooling stage, ultrasonic waves are preferably applied and the forming mold is preferably cooled with a refrigerant.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
