A mechanism for synchronizing the transmission of frames in a telecommunications network comprising a mobile station (MS), a radio network controller (SRNC), at least one base station (BS1,BS2). The mobile station (MS) and each base station (BS1, BS2) has a corresponding timing reference (msfn, bs1fn,, bs2fn).The mechanism includes or performs the steps of: 1) to establish a reference timing specific connection (CFN) that is common to all nodes (MS, BS1, BS2.RNC) involved in the connection; 2) determine, for base stations (BS1,BS2) a deviation (SFO) between the reference timing of the base station concerned and CFN; and 3) use the deviation (SFO) in base stations (BS1, BS2)To compensate for the difference between the reference timing.
