In the present invention there is disclosed a process for preparing catalysts of Ziegler-Natta type being applied to a granulated carrier based on refractory oxide. The invented process is characterized in that the granulated carrier is brought into contact with (a) an organosilicon compound, (b) dialkyl magnesium compound and optionally with a trialkylaluminium compound, (c) a monochlorinated organic compound and (d) at least one compound of tetravalent titanium, whereby contacting the carrier with the organosilicon compound is carried out as the first stage of the catalyst preparation process and contacting the carrier with the dialkyl magnesium compound and optionally with the trialkylaluminium compound is carried out after contacting the carrier and the organosilicon compound, only.
