Process for afforestation on agricultural land

The invention relates to a process for afforestation based on the use of protective plants. Corn or another agricultural crop is used as the protective plant, and the seeds of trees are sown or the plantlets of trees are planted under the protective plant. The harvest of the protective plant is gathered at the end of the growth season, leaving behind the stubble or straw (whole or chopped), together with other harvesting residues as a protective layer for a number of years. The root mycelial medium needed for growth is spread in plant cakes or seed mixtures. This protected afforestation method can be practised anywhere in the world, and specifically on land already in cultivation, in areas that completely lack trees or have dried out, and in areas suffering from erosion because of slash cultivation or forest fires.
