The invention relates to a process for preparing a pullulan-type polysaccharide, said process consisting in discontinuously cultivating the strain I.C.C.F.-83, registered in the colection of the Chemical-Pharmaceutical Research Institute (I.C.C.F.) under the number 211, in a medium containing glucose in a concentration of 70...100 g/l as a carbon source, ammonium sulphate up to 20 g/l and sodium nitrate 44...20 g/l, overall 0.73...0.75 g of nitrogen, as a mixed nitrogen source as well as other nutritive mineral salts currently used. If the microorganism is cultivated in a semi-continuous system, up to 150 g/l of additional glucose are admixed gradually, when the glucose residual concentration gets lower than 10 g/l.
