An air supply control device (27) comprising at least one rod can be secured to different positions on the perforated plate between one of the compost device walls and the compost. The control device extends parallel to the compost device base and fills the space between the perforated plate and the adjoining wall. A compost device comprises a base panel (1), a front wall (3), two side walls, a rear wall (9) and a cover (10). The walls and cover are insulated (14) on the inside. A gap (12) is left between the base panel and walls around at least part of the panel periphery, the gap width being 3-20 (3-7) mm. In front of one of the walls, preferably the front wall, is at least one perforated plate. An air supply control device comprising at least one rod can be secured to different positions on the perforated plate. The control device extends parallel to the base panel and its dimensions are chosen so that it essentially fills the space between the perforated plate and the adjoining wall.
