Process for disinfecting and/or deodorizing a compartment, preferably a waste bin, by firstly spraying disinfecting liquid from a tank into compartment, and simultaneously or consecutively carrying out at least one of the following: (a) spraying deodorizing liquid from deodorizing tank into compartment, preferably after closing it with closure member; (b) spraying disinfectant and/or deodorizing liquid on the outside of the compartment; (c) spraying disinfectant and/or deodorizing liquid to area where compartment is located. Preferred Features: The compartment is a waste bin which is unloaded into a truck. After unloading at least two of the following are carried out: disinfecting liquid and/or deodorizing liquid are drawn from tanks and sprayed by nebulizing nozzles to interior, exterior, or surrounding area of waste bin. The device includes disinfecting tank (7), pumps (11,12), nebulizing nozzles (13,15/14,16), and a deodorizing tank (9). Sprays are operated by an adjustable timer. A sensor detects when the waste bin is closed. A nozzle for internal disinfection of the bin is inside the truck, and nozzles for external disinfection are mounted on a lifting arm. The waste bin has a compartment for deodorizing agent, a wall located between the compartment and interior of bin is perforated. Independent claims are included for a device for carrying out the process, a waste bin and a compartment.
