摘要
Fabrication of mullite-based porous ceramics comprises production of monocrystalline short mullite and mullite-alumina fibres from an aqueous suspension of kaolinite and aluminum hydroxide. Precipitation in basic medium employs ammonia or an amine, HMDA (hexamethylene diamine) and an aluminum salt solution premixed with the kaolinite suspension. The aluminum salt is obtained from cuttings, powder and aluminum metal turnings, based on recycled industrial residues with acid dissolution. The precursors formed undergo heat treatment at 1500-1600 degrees C, yielding 50% ceramic porosity.
