LINER AND LINER SYSTEM FOR CAT BOX AND CAT BOX COVER

In an exemplary form, the invention provides a liner for a cat box coverdesigned to reston a cat box bottom. The liner comprises a sidewall for lining a substantialportion of a sidewallof the cover otherwise exposed to cat urine during normal operation. Thesidewall comprises atleast a fluid impermeable layer. The liner includes a top attached to theliner sidewall around asubstantial portion of a lateral periphery of the top. In addition to thefluid impermeable layer,the liner sidewall preferably includes a sorbent layer for absorbing cat urineand preferably aclaw-resistant layer for protecting the sorbent layer. The top of the linercomprises a fluidimpermeable layer, and preferably also includes a sorbent layer and preferablya claw-resistantlayer. Using the foregoing liner for a cat box cover together with a liner fora cat box bottomachieves significant reduction in bacteria or odor buildup in a cat box.Additionally, use of suchliners for the cover and bottom typically eliminates the need for routinecleaning of the cat boxitself. Thus, while the liners will need to be periodically changed, the catbox typically remainsclean and odor-free for months.
