Weaning for liberation from a respirator is rationally and efficiently carried out without relying on experience and scent. A fuzzy set and fuzzy rules are made in advance based on the fuzzy theory and stored in a computer (control modules B4, B5, B6). According to the fuzzy set and fuzzy rules, and from at least the heart rate (HR), the respiratory rate, the oxygen saturation (SpO2), and/or the measured values (A1 to A12) of the tidal air exchange, the condition parameters and trend parameters thereof are calculated. The control parameter is derived from the center of gravity of the overall control diagram of the control and trend parameters, thereby controlling the respirator.
