A sample DNA is packed in the closed space (S) of a chip (2) for detecting single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and point mutation in gene which consists of a number of gold electrodes (8) formed on the bottom face (7) of the closed space (S); oligonucleotides (10) having different gene sequences immobilized on these gold electrodes (8); and a common electrode (16) located in such a manner as not being in contact with the gold electrodes (8). Then voltage is impressed between the common electrode (16) and the gold electrodes (8) and the current is detected so as to detect and analyze hybridized double-stranded DNA. Thus, a number of single nucleotide polymorphisms and point mutations can be detected and analyzed at a high sensitivity by using many sample DNAs.
