The jacket consists of two rectangular sleeves (1, 2) of greater dimensions than the book cover, each with a pocket formed by an inner flap (5) closed along one edge (7) and open at the other (9). The open ends of the two pockets have strips (11) of adhesive which allow them to be folded over and stuck down after fitting to books of different sizes. After inserting the front and back covers of a book into the two sleeves, the free edges (8) of the sleeves are overlapped and joined together along the spine of the book by further strips (10) of adhesive. The adhesive can be in strips or spots covered with a layer of a peel-off protective material prior to use.
