The present invention provides a method for treating nephritis associated with immune complex disease using anti-CD40L compounds. In one embodiment, an anti-CD40L compound inhibits the generation of an immune complex glomerulonephritis, renal inside of the graft by administering to patients with immune complex disease who receives a kidney allograft.
