FAULT DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM OF PC-BASED IO(INPUT/OUTPUT) CARD AND METHOD FOR GENERATING FAULT DIAGNOSIS TEST SIGNAL IN THE SAME SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A fault diagnosis system of a PC-based IO(Input/Output) card is provided, which adopts an additional board to separate a reference I/O card from an extension chassis of a card to be diagnosed and to make it easy to connect with a card with a different connector, and a method for generating a fault diagnosis test signal in the same system is provided to judge whether a cable is short between adjacent terminals. CONSTITUTION: The system has a fault diagnosis information input/output apparatus(100) which displays a fault diagnosis result information and includes a monitor and a keyboard and a mouse need for interaction with a user. A shelf 0 (or a rack)(200), a kind of the first extension chassis, has a reference I/O card and includes the first digital output card(210), the first relay input card(220), the first digital input card(230), the first analog input card(240), the first analog output card(250), the first ISA card or PCI bus extension card(260) enabling to connect with a backplane of an extension card accommodating the I/O card to be diagnosed. A shelf 1 (or rack)(300) is separated from the shelf 0, and includes the second digital input card(310), the second relay output card(320), the second digital output card(330), the second analog output card(340), the second analog input card(350) and the second ISA or PCI bus extension card(360) enabling to connect with the backplane. And, the system includes an additional board(400) showing the input/output state of each card.
