The cable tensioning element for at least one cable (2) has at least one pre-tensioned spring element (4), e.g. a plate spring stack, coupled to the cable via a transmission mechanism (10,14), allowing the length variations of the cable to be transmitted to the spring element and the pre-tensioning force of the spring to be transmitted to the cable. The transmission characteristic of the transmission mechanism is a function of the cable length variation.
