Process for treating water which is not under control, especially natural and artificial waters, and keeping it clean, involves adding limestone and/or lime solution/milk of lime to give a stable hydrogen carbonate buffer solution with pH over 7, in which the concentration of dissolved inorganic substances is determined largely by heterogeneous chemical reactions. An Independent claim is also included for equipment used in this process.
