Electromagnetic actuator for controlling a valve in an internal combustion engine uses two electromagnets acting upon an armature striking a valve shaft, two counter-posed spring forces and a valve spring acting upon the armature
Two electromagnets (1,2) act upon an armature (3) that strikes against a valve shank (5). Two counter-posed springs (12) including one valve spring act upon the armature. If the valve spring's force is altered, electronic components detect that there has been a change in the proportion of energy needed for the electromagnets to adjust the armature into desired open/closed positions.
