The spring for the inlet valve of a pump mounted in a controlled braking system has a length which does not alter in proportion to the force exerted on it. It consists of a spiral spring with sections (L01 - L03) in which the windings have a different pitch, the central section (L02) having windings of a larger pitch than the other two.
