New azo dyes are 6(7)-(1-amino-2-sulfo-anthraquinon-4-yl) -amino-2-azo-1-naphthol-3(4)-sulfonic acid compounds. New azo dyes are 6(7)-(1-amino-2-sulfo-anthraquinon-4-yl) -amino-2-azo-1-naphthol-3(4)-sulfonic acid compounds are of formula (I). A = phenylene or naphthylene with 0-3 R substituents; R = 1-4 carbon (C) alkyl, 1-4 C alkoxy, halogen, sulfo, amino, 1-4 C alkylamino, acylamino, carboxy, hydroxy (OH), carboxamido, nitro and/or cyano; B = a vinylsulfonyl (precursor) group, -SO2Y, or a reactive amino group, -NR3Cy; Y = vinyl or -CH2CH2Z; Z = a group eliminated by alkali; R3 = hydrogen (H) or a (substituted) 1-4 C alkyl or phenyl group; Cy = a heterocyclic reactive group containing halogen; or A-B = a substituted phenyl group; M = H, an ammonium ion, an alkali metal or the equivalent or an alkaline earth metal; m, n = 0 or 1.
