At least part of the conditions of the reaction dynamics (3) are estimated by the observer and input to the system as an estimate x. The observer dynamics comprise reaction dynamics, feedback of the derivatives w.r.t. time of a measurement (6), and a measurement feedback. The measurement feedback is provided using an extension function, whose partial derivatives are identical to those of the r-vector of the reaction dynamics in a predetermined operating range.
