The balloon catheter for implementing cutting of tissues, in particular, within the heart and/or stomach region by means of cutting wires (5, 6) comprises a set of balloons (1, 2) and an addititional tensioning balloon (3). The latter is inflatable by means of a fluid supplied through the catheter tube (4), and ensures that the cutting wires between the balloons (1, 2) are kept at a specified tension.
