The vane-steered auxiliary rudder consists of a wind indicator vane (1), bevel gear (2) with fine adjuster (3) and a rudder shaft (5) in the rudder column (4). The blade (6) of the rudder is carried by a system drum and the center axis of the brake drum is carried by a bearer plate hinged releasably by snappers and joined to stern-fitted plate to be swiveled and hung out as desired. The supporting drum encloses the brake drum and pivots on the axis specified. This same axis also carries the brake rocker arm composed of a rotating longitudinally grooved square fitted out with a rocker arm (14) and weight (15). Steel flats on the inside of the support drum engage brake-shoe elements in holes in the brake drum. Heart-shaped symmetrical moldings lie in the grooves of the square and recesses on the brake elements to act as pivotal support.
