Mail sorting drum has inner swing and overlapping blades and fixed membranes to tumble the mail for sorting by thickness effectively and without damage

The appts. to sort mail by thickness categories has a rotating drum with a cylindrical frame (1) and inner angled and overlapping swing blades (2). Two clamped membranes (6) are fitted within the drum, fixed over each other. The membrane at the lower half of the drum is at the side where the blades (2) swing upwards, but sufficiently close to the drum so that the thickest mail items (5) cannot stick. The membrane (6) at the upper section of the drum, is angled against the horizontal and against the direction of drum rotation, and is aligned to the surface of the lower membrane, so that the packages (5) fall to the lower membrane and slide to the lower section of the drum. The membranes are at an angle of 90 deg to each other, with an angle adjustment.
