A coating composition containing as carrier: (A) a liquid epoxy resin having on average at least one epoxy group per molecule, a viscosity of 3000 mPa.s or less at 25 deg C; and (B) a ketimine compound containing, by blockage of an amino group, a polyamine compound and a dialkyl ketone of viscosity 500 mPa.s or less at 25 deg C is new. A coating composition containing as carrier: (A) a liquid epoxy resin having on average at least one epoxy group per molecule, a viscosity of 3000 mPa.s or less at 25 deg C; and (B) a ketimine compound containing, by blockage of an amino group, a polyamine compound of formula Y(CH2-NH2)k, where Y = an organic group of valence k or is a direct compound (sic), and k = at least 2 and a dialkyl ketone of viscosity 500 mPa.s or less at 25 deg C. An Independent claim is included for a coating process in which the coating composition is sprayed onto the object to be sprayed without dilution with solvent, e.g. onto a steel surface, where it hardens and fixes any rust on the steel surface, with formation of a film of inorganic zinc rich in coating material.
