Particle supply forming the blocking layer is controlled during deposition, such that functional and blocking layers form a gradient layer. When the anti-reflection layer is formed from individual layers, the supply of particles to make them is controlled to form a gradient layer. Control is such, that through the succession of layers, material proportions run progressively from 100% to 0% in the first layer to the reverse in the last. An independent claim is included for the corresponding layered system.
