Method and apparatus for objective measurement of the image quality

In the method comparisons are carried out using computers, image memories and other known devices. The properties of devices for movement estimation, e.g. block matching, partic. memory management, block formation, pixel difference formation and computing power are used in the comparison process for simultaneous digitised data streams of light intensity and colour signal components from image memories with reference signals. The supposed movement between simultaneous images is estimated and the colour signals are treated as light intensity signals. Then, the sum of the pixel differences is formed as surface error measurements.
