Isolating proteins (I) implicated in recognition and targeted transport of a pathogenic virus that circulates via the plasmoderm in plants, comprising subjecting samples containing complexes of (I) and viral particles to electrophoresis and Western blotting, using a monoclonal antibody directed against a capsid protein, and recovering bands that are not immunodetected, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) (I) isolated using the novel method; and (2) cDNA (II) corresponding to (I).
