New vaccine for protecting cats against feline calcivirus, derived from viral isolates that induce an antibody response effective against many different strains

Immunogenic composition or vaccine (A) against feline calcivirosis is based on a feline calcivirus (FCV) that is recognized by monoclonal antibody 44 (CNCM I-2282) or can induce in felines, especially cats, an antiserum that neutralizes at least 13-15 members of a specified panel of FCV isolates, and includes a vehicle or excipient, is new. Immunogenic composition or vaccine (A) against feline calcivirosis is based on a feline calcivirus (FCV) that: (a) is recognized by monoclonal antibody 44 (CNCM I-2282); or (b) can induce in felines, especially cats, an antiserum that neutralizes at least 13-15 members of a specified panel of FCV isolates, where the specified panel comprises isolates RMI1-9, 2, F1, G1, G3, F3031, H3-2, H1-4, 431,388b, 337 and J5, and includes a vehicle or excipient. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) multivalent vaccination kit or set of, packaged separately, (A), preferably with an adjuvant, and at least one valence of at least one other feline pathogen; (2) hybridoma CNCM I-2282; and (3) monoclonal antibody (MAb) produced by CNCM I-2282.
