Production of the Ni-H cell involves a pre-charging stage for charging a positive electrode formed from a paste containing Ni(OH)2 as active material for the reaction, in order to deposit CoOOH on the surface of the Ni(OH)2 before assembling the completed cell once the active material for the reaction is retained by a collector. The pre-charging stage involves charging the positive electrode with a constant current of 0.05-0.2 CA or with a corresponding constant voltage corresponding to such a current. The positive electrode is formed from a paste obtained by mixing Co, CoO and/or Co(OH)2, Ni(OH)2 powder and an additive such as an appropriate binder.
