Flat liquid crystal display terminal incorporating keyboard for displaying and sharing computer generated study texts to between 10 to 100 people over a local, wide or global area network

The terminal has a liquid crystal screen about 25 cm wide by 20 cm high with attached keyboard. The whole comprises a thin rigid plaque 5 mm thick. The terminal includes, a basic microprocessor principally for the display, solar cells integrated into the keyboard surface and 1,5 volt battery compartments. The terminal also includes a radio transmitter and receiver, such as those used by portable interior phones. The radio transmitter receiver allows exchange of characters at a minimum rate of 2000 per second with a terminal hub connected to a computer. Character exchange is done in accordance with a particular optimized protocol which distinguishes between isolated characters sent from the computer and complete text pages. The hub connected to the computer for character exchange allows the exchange of characters simultaneously with several peripherals devices connected to the computer by its serial or universal serial bus port or via a local ETHERNET TCP/IP network. The software driver installed on the computer ensures management of the terminal and allows program exchange. The driving software may be DOS under Windows or UNIX.
