PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a conventional profile generating method and system that has needed a very high cost to create a profile with high accuracy because of provision of a colorimetric unit and an exclusive software program. SOLUTION: Reference spatial coordinates of color data of a profile creation object are grasped on the basis of color characteristic description data of a specific device and a profile of the profile creation object is created. The profile is created by a computer used by a user and an external server connected to the computer via a communication channel. Thus, it is not required for the user to prepare an exclusive software program for the creation of the profile, the user can easily obtain profile data without the need for reading by a colorimetric unit at all and the user can create the profile of a printer that is accurate independently of a device difference.
