PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for distance measurement and device of distance measurement capable of obtaining accurate distance measurement data, even in the case of measuring distance to a measuring objects with mutually different reflection factors. SOLUTION: An inter-vehicle distance measurement device 1 is provided with a CPU 3, which emits pulse laser light varying the emission intensity in turn, and fetching data in the inter-vehicle distance data at each emission intensity at every specific period in turn, compares the relative size between inter-vehicle distance data, estimates the degree of reflection factor of preceding vehicles from the comparison results and executes such control as correcting errors included in the inter-vehicle distance data based on the estimated results.
