PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for heating molten steel in a tundish using a plasma torch with which plasma arc caused by slag intruding during continuous casting is restrained from becoming unstable and at the same time, uniform heating to the molten steel is carried out by preventing local overheating of the molten steel and a refractory cost is reduced by restraining dissolution loss of the refractory in a heating chamber, etc., and heating efficiency can be improved.;SOLUTION: In the heating device 10 for molten steel which is provided with a pouring hole 18 for molten steel 11, a pair of plasma torch inserting holes 15, 16, a cover 14 provided with the heating chamber 13 and a pair of the plasma torches 24, 25 held with an elevating/lowering device at the upper part of the plasma torch inserting holes 15, 16 and inserted into the tundish 12 and further, connecting cords 27, 28 in an electric applying device 26, an upper weir 22 the lower part of which is dipped into the molten steel 11 is arranged between the pouring hole 18 for molten steel 11 in the tundish 12 and the heating chamber 13, and a porous plug 20 for blowing inert gas into the tundish 12 at the position just below the heating chamber 13 is arranged.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
