PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily and easily specify a cavity presence position by observation of the inner surface of a pipeline with a TV camera mounted on self-running vehicle in a pipeline and bring the antenna face of the cavity probing device close to the inner surface of the pipeline so as to increase the probing capability.;SOLUTION: The image information from the TV camera mounted on the self- running vehicle in a pipeline is processed in a control part on the ground to detect an abnormal pipeline surface, and the TV antenna of the cavity probing device mounted on the self-running vehicle in the pipeline opposes to the pipeline surface in which an abnormality is detected to perform the work for searching cavity for the pipeline surface in which the abnormality is detected. The self-running vehicle in pipeline is constituted by a horizontal support shaft positioned at the center of the pipeline by connecting a front wheel under carriage with a rear wheel under carriage, the cavity probing device is provided between the front wheel under carriage and the rear wheel under carriage so as to turn freely around the horizontal support shaft, and the probing direction of the cavity probing device can be freely changed into the direction of rotation of the horizontal support shaft.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
