PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for providing judicial precedent information by which the capacity of the HD of a user's PC is not suppressed and the judicial precedent information can be retrieved effectively by providing the judicial precedent information efficiently to the user by using a recording medium and the Internet.;SOLUTION: The method/system distributes a DVD-ROM 20 being a recording medium with the latest judicial precedents recorded thereon to the user several times a year. The latest judicial precedent information during the DVD-ROM 20 is not distributed is downloaded to the client 10 of the user through the Internet 3 from a server 1. When the next DVD-ROM of the latest edition is distributed and set to the DVD control part 15 of the client 10, the judicial precedent information downloaded in the latest judicial precedent information downloading area 16a of a hard disk 16 until then is deleted automatically.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
