PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stepping motor origin setting device and a stepping motor origin setting method, which can set an origin of a stepping motor at a maximum torque generating point at a low cost and with high accuracy.;SOLUTION: A prescribed rotational position of a stepping motor 12 is detected by a reference rotation position sensor 16 as a reference rotation position Q (temporary origin), and a stable point P, i.e., a prescribed waveform position of an exciting current ϕA, at which a maximum torque is obtained, is set in the neighborhood of the detected reference rotation position as the true origin.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
