PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store traffic data having a volume as large as possible in a limited memory while minimizing the number of sorting times.;SOLUTION: Traffic data flowing through a network is totalized for each combination of predetermined data (traffic type) characterizing the traffic and stored in a limited memory. In such a method for storing traffic data in a limited memory, traffic data arriving within a fixed micro time is stored for each traffic type, number of packets or bytes (rate) arriving within the fixed time is counted, and a memory for actually storing the data is divided into first and second memory areas. Partition of the first and second memory areas is sorted by the number of bytes/number of packets and the data is stored in the second area or discarded therefrom using that rate.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
